What To Expect

Day 1: arrival in Sofia. A representative of our agency will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 2: a 2-hour guided tour in the heart of Sofia with which you will see all of its main historical sites: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Saint Sofia Basilica, Saint George Rotunda, the Largo, the Roman Remains, and others - and you will be able to learn more about the ancient and rich history of the town from your local guide.
After that: free time and overnight in Sofia.

Boyana Church
Day 3: guided visit of the Boyana church - UNESCO heritage site, famous for its remarkably well preserved and unique frescoes dating back to the 13th century.

Day 3: a day trip and a guided visit of the Rila Monastery - the biggest and most important Bulgarian monastery, also a UNESCO heritage site. There you will have a guided visit during which you will learn more about its history and legends. Free time for lunch.

Kazanlak
Day 5: you continue from Plovdiv to Kazanlak - the infrormal capital of the Bulgarian rose valley. There you will visit a traditional rosary and you we learn more about the process of rose oil production in Bulgaria. You will also visit the ancient Thracian tomb of Kazanlak - another UNESCO heritage site. After that, you will continue to the ethnographic resort - Etara - and in the evening you will arrive at Veliko Tarnovo. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Veliko Tarnovo
Day 6: Veliko Tarnovo - the medieval Bulgarian capital. There you will have a 2-hour guided visit in the old fortress - Tsarevets - and along the old merchant streets. You will learn more about the powerful Second Bulgarian Kingdom which existed between the 12th and the 14th century. After that: free time and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Koprivshtitsa
Day 7: you travel back to Sofia. On your way, you will have a stop in the revival village of Koprivshtitsa- the symbol of the Bulgarian National Revival which took place in the 19th century. There you will visit 6 of its house museums and have free time for a lunch in a traditional restourant. In the evening you will be back in Sofia. Overnight in Sofia.
